Dave's Guide

Indespensable for anyone looking online for information about the Algarve, Dave's Guide is "not guaranteed to be definitive or totally accurate but... does contain general advice and many reviews of Towns, Villages, Hotels, Apartments, Bars and Restaurants based on visitor comments." Its slightly home-made look covers a surprising breadth and depth of information, particularly on places not included in other guides, and it is a pity that Dave seems to have tired of his project.

eastoffaro.com

In spite of occupying more or less half the region, the Eastern Algarve, as I have pointed out many times, is far less well known than the west, but at least as interesting. This site, from a company offering non-resort holiday home rentals, includes an online guidebook to the area covering its beaches, the Ria Formosa National Park, golf (of course, this is still the Algarve, after all), birdwatching, the Guadiana River, and the area's most important places: Tavira, Olhão, Castro Marim, Vila Real, Estói, and others.
