Puerto de la Cruz

Puerto de la Cruz is a historic place, having been an important port especially in relation to the wine trade, and being closely connected to (and geographiically part of) La Orotava Valley, the location of the Guanche kingdom of Taoro, conquered by the Spanish in 1496. It is also one of the longest established and most interesting resorts on Tenerife. The link goes to the entertaining and informative municipal web site.
