Circuito de Jerez

Jerez's racing track's most important annual event is the Spanish Motorcycling Grand Prix, though it also sees the Formula One races it was designed for.

Jerez 2020

As far as I can tell, the "2020" in this site's name has no meaning at all, but it is an acceptable though Spanish-only unofficial guide.

Jerez Ciudad del Flamenco

To say that "Jerez is the universally acknowledged reference point for Flamenco" as this municipal subsite does is an exaggeration, though it is very important. However, the real point of these pages is for the council to blow its own trumpet about its project for redeveloping the town centre. Nice links selection.

Jerez Film Commission

Even if you really are a film director looking for a place to shoot, you will probably find the photos under "Locations" the most interesting corner of this site.

Jerez Tourist Guide

For such a small place, Jerez de la Frontera has a lot of attractions, for example, it is the home of sherry wine and an important name in the equestrian world, churns out first-rate flamenco artists, and has a Formula 1 racing track and a world-class zoo. This is a plucky little municipal tourist guide which doesn't lose all that much from not having been updated recently.

Jerez-Xerès-Sherry

Sherry wine, the denominación de origen. Sherry is perhaps the best known of Spain's wines; it is certainly the most distinctive, instantly recognisable in any of its variations - fino, manzanilla, amontillado, oloroso, palo cortado, or the various kinds of sweet sherry which are rarely encountered in Spain itself. The latter is of no importance, one of the main reasons for the very existence of sherry being that it is made to be transported, including exported, as the fortification that makes it so distinctive acts as a conservant, making it ideal for sea voyages. It has been popular in the English-speaking world for centuries, and many of the names in this site's section on sherry winemakers are British in origin. Note that "sherry" refers not to the type of wine, but to the region around Jerez de la Frontera (the north-west of the province of Cádiz), so Australian or Californian sherry is a contradiction in terms.

Museos de La Atalaya

"Atalaya" means "watchtower," though in this case refers to a 17th/18th century palace in the middle of Jerez. It contains two museums, El Misterio de Jerez, dedicated to sherry wine, and El Palacio del Tiempo, a clock museum. Odd that the website is only available in Spanish, but I would not expect any concessions to English speakers in the museums, either.

Zoobotánico de Jerez

Jerez's zoo-cum-botanical gardens is an important conservation centre, and probably the last chance of survival for the Iberian lynx.
