Lugo Provincial Government

The greatest attractions of the province of Lugo are its capital city, a world heritage site because of its Roman walls; the Ribeira Sacra, a beautiful wine-producing area between Lugo and Ourense; and the Costa Lucense, the province's coastline. Also of interest are the Camino de Santiago through the province, with its lovely old villages and Romanesque architecture, and the villages in the west of the Sierra dos Ancares, where you can see pallozas, the extraordinary round, thatched houses of Celtic origin which were lived in as recently as the sixties. The province is criss-crossed by rivers, many of which have been dammed and this attractive, informative website from the provincial government suggests a Route of the Reservoirs. Unfortunately, the site is not available in English.
