Manuel de Falla's House
One of Spain's greatest composers (El Amor Brujo, Noches en los Jardines de España), Manuel de Falla (1876-1946) was an adopted son of Granada, where he lived and worked between 1915 and his voluntary exile in 1939. Click "Sitios de Interés" (how are we supposed to understand that?) for a virtual tour of this museum-house.Added on: 06-Jun-2004 | hits: 233

Federico García Lorca's Birthplace
Lorca spent his childhood in Fuente Vaqueros, a village now adjacent to Granada airport. Its name means "the cowherd's spring," which indicates how rural the place was, though the fact that Lorca's mother was a schoolteacher gives the house a touch of bourgouis. This website is only in Spanish: if you are planning to visit the museum, it is only a 20 minute bus ride away from the city, but you would do well to check the times of visits (under "Información) - it closes in the afternoon in summer.Added on: 06-Jun-2004 | hits: 240

Granada City Pass
The Granada City Pass offers entrance to the city's main sights: the Alhambra and Generalife, the cathedral, the royal chapel, the Cartuja Monastery, San Jerónimo Monastery and Science Park, totalling a discount of 30% on all together. This is the relevant page of Caja Granada, the city's savings bank.Added on: 14-Dec-2005 | hits: 247

Granada.net
This slick, Spanish-only portal is praised by Granada's Municipal Tourist Office, but I suspect them of at least dubious ethics: not only do they have the nerve to frame official virtual tours of the city, the Alhambra and Albaicín, and so forth, they compound the felony with a legal notice claiming the intellectual property of all "their" contents.Added on: 06-Jun-2004 | hits: 253

Legado Andalusí
Sites like this make you give thanks for the existence of the Internet. El Legado Andalusí is a foundation belonging to the Andalusian regional government with the mission: "to valorise and disseminate our cultural heritage, with particular emphasis on the Hispano-Moslem period and concentrating, above all, on the mutual and fertile influences of the Mediterranean area throughout the centuries." Which sounds clumsy, bureaucratic and pretentious, whereas this website is lovely, luminous and lucid (though the English plays out occasionally).Added on: 06-Jun-2004 | hits: 335
