Rueda

Rueda is a village of some charm in the south of the province of Valladolid, classified bureaucratically as a Conjunto Monumental e Histórico Artistico de España, i.e., of historic and artistic interest at the national level. More famously, though, it gives its name to an interesting wine denominación de origen, most of which lies within the province of Valladolid although it spreads down into Segovia, and there are even a couple of places in Ávila included in the D.O. Its most representative produce is its white wine and, in the same way that red wine drinkers in Spain will ask for a Rioja or a Ribera del Duero, a white wine drinker might well order a Rueda. The link goes to the web site of DO Rueda's consejo regulador, regulatory body, which sounds terribly bureaucratic but, in this case, it isn't.
