Mundaka is a tiny, picturesque fishing village on the estuary of the Urdaibai, near Guernika. Its main claim to fame is "probably the best wave in Europe," a great 200-yard long spiral that comes sweeping in from the Cantabrian Sea, to the boundless delight of the surfers for whom it is an object of worship.
