Link profile: Cuenca
Category: Start / Spain and its Regions / New Castile (Castilla-La Mancha) / Cuenca / Cuenca (City)
This small (pop. <47,000) city has a lovely walled mediaeval/Renaissance centre on top of a steep hill. It is most famous for its casas colgantes, hanging houses, perched high over a ravine, and the fantastic rock formations of the nearby Ciudad Encantada, used as a location for Conan the Barbarian. The municipal site has some of the most impressive photos I have ever seen on the web, and tons of information about both the city and the surrounding country.
