As Xelb, Silves was once the Moorish capital of the Algarve, and its impressive castle is one of the most unmissable in the region. Silves's steep, stepped slopes tell of its Arabic origins and its position in the hills and distance from the coast have preserved its rural atmosphere, making it an enticing excursion. This municipal website was closed for maintenance or something the last time I looked.

Duas Quintas offers traditional Algarve bed and breakfast facilities just outside of Silves. Since opening we have received nothing but praise from our guests and we hope this will continue further. Our aim is to help people discover the real Algarve, and we hope that our accommodation facilities will be the perfect setting for doing so.
