The Medas Islands and sea around them are one of the most important nature reserves in the Mediterranean, a premier dive site but worth visiting in glass-bottom boat for the less aquatic. The nature reserve is usually reached from L'Estartit, but dive centres and pleasure cruise companies also operate from L'Escala, Roses or Llafranc.
