Madrid is famed for the harshness of its climate, but this is greatly exaggerated. "Nine months of winter, three months of hell," goes the saying, but the truth is that Madrid's weather is generally excellent, often with Madrid's luminous, clear blue skies even at the height of winter. It is true that some summers are real scorchers, but this is true of the whole country.
