Map of The Centro Region

The Centro Region, Portugal

Portugal's Centro region includes the old distritos of Castelo Branco, Guarda, Viseu, Aveiro, Coimbra and Leiria, more or less what is now called Beira (Beira Interior, Norte and Sul, and Beira Litoral). It is chock-full of interesting historic places and attractive scenery and is a great area to motor around. The map is not entirely satisfactory, sorry, because the region is not really rectangular, especially in the south - Santarém, Portalegre and the area in between belong to Alentejo.
