A friend as asked to to get him a coat in Evora next month when i visit but not sure whaats it's called. A long cape like wool coat with a fur collar. Seems they are popular there. Would help to know what they are called so i can ask my hotel where the nearest shop is.

I think what you are talking about is called a "samara" or more probably "samarra." It seems to fit your description and is used by countryfolk like shepherds all over Portugal, not just Evora.
