Driving: Madrid-Granada-Sevilla-Madrid

Unregistered User I have lived in Madrid for about three months and I have a couple of friends coming to visit in a week. We will visit Andalucia for a couple of days: Granada and Sevilla. My original thought was that we would take trains but I am wondering if it would actually save time and money to hire a car. For the five day period in which we are interested, I have found EuropCar offerings for around 158 euro, which seems like a steal. VAT is included. Am I missing a crucial cost of driving in Spain? I figured allocating 80 euro for gasoline and it still seems cheaper than the combined costs of the train tickets, not to mention a time saver. Any thoughts?

Apart from parking (which you will have noticed is dicky in Spanish cities), the only hidden cost of driving in Spain I can think of is toll highways, and I don't know of any on the route you're planning. The price does look good, as well. And not only are you saving time, you're buying freedom.
