barcelona to murcia by rail

Unregistered User I am thinking about going from Barcelona to Murcia by rail. The trip appears long, but is it worth it scenery-wise? Any information or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!--Jim

Hard to say, really, depends very much on you (I am sure I would enjoy it, but just being in a train of any kind is enough to make me happy). On the neg side, I know of no spectacular cliffs and things along the way, if that is what you are looking for, and much of the time you would be looking at seaside towns from the back, which is their least attractive side. But there are stretches where you follow the Med round, at least in the part I know, the Valencia region. Let us know your verdict if you do do it.

Hi,
Me and my family are planning to visit some friends in Murcia and we have found a very good price for a flight from Sweden to Girona. However it seem very difficult to find a good connection from Girona to Alicante or Murcia. We can accept train or flight. Do you have any suggestions or ideas where we can find this info and how to book?
Greatful for any help.
Best Regards
Lars P

There is only one direct train a day, but you could change in Barcelona easily enough - see Renfe's website for more information about railways (from "Moving Around" on the left).

I imagine you are talking about a Ryanair flight to Girona, and I'm afraid Girona just isn't very well connected with other places in Spain. Have you considered getting a flight to London Stansted and flying to Murcia from there? I would be surprised if it were not cheaper and probably faster overall.
