David Beckham
1David
Beckham
Sweet (in the sense of juicy) Java-based fansite with a nice
ice-blue colour scheme. The categories under "Information"
speak volumes about the preoccupations of Beckham followers
(Beckhamites? Beckies? Becksophiles?), viz.:
Biography
Hair style
Tattoos
Awards
AskMen
- David Beckham
One of the most incisively written publications on the Net
(oh, all right, their "99
Most Desirable Women" slot has its appeal as well)
defines Becksy to perfection: "pop star in a soccer uniform."
BeatBeckham.com
An entertaining Flash game with a lovely design, but its only
real connection with D.B. is the name.
Beckham
en español
A Spanish fansite, predating Becksy's move to Real Madrid.
Beckham
Magazine
The "Online David Beckham FanZine" should be your
source for all things Becks. It is completely irrelevant that
it is apparently from Singapore, a place I have never been
to but which I admire greatly for making chewing gum illegal.
The
Beckham Trail
This is a gorgeous, priceless idea, from Waltham
Forest Borough Council's website, and presented with a
deliciously straight face: a route following Becks' early
life, from his maternity unit to the parks where he played
(needless to say, "perfecting his now legendary free
kick"), the schools he went to and even the greyhound
stadium where he worked as a glass collector. In the interests
of maintaining suspense, I shall let readers find out for
themselves exactly where he attended cub camp.
Beckhamania.com
The name is a bit misleading (and I am not sure how legitimate
it is), as this is really wsoccer.com's
Beckham page in a frame.
Beckham
Heaven
Or Jenny's Beckham Bonanza! With photos! And bright
colours! And asterisks!!
Becks
- the Yahoo Group
If you cannot let a day go by without news of your object
of cult, this group has an average of well over 300 messages
a month.
Becksy
A fansite not updated since 2000, but with plenty of photos.
David
Beckham
This fansite describes the object of its adulation as "the
World's number one crosser," which sounds frankly kinky
to me.
David
Beckham: the Finest
And a fine fansite, with well written articles and other content.
Paul's
World - Beckham
An extremely well made site with news, fixtures, statistics,
and, of course, a gallery, including, I suspect, more copyright
infringements than you could shake an injunction at. All the
web pages and sites on this page are guilty in this way, but
I do not think a fansite should be judged in the same way
as a commercial one, and if I am singling out this site to
accuse, it is precisely because its ambitions, at least, are
professional.
The
World of David Beckham
One of the better fansites, though not updated since July
2002.
Victoria Beckham (née Adams)
Ask
Men - Victoria Beckham
Yes! (punching air). One of the most incisively written...
(etc., see above) opines thusly "Victoria Beckham lets
her sexuality seep through her clothes, or lack thereof, and
gives men everywhere reason to stop and stare." Now that's
what I call prose.
Fulcrum
2000's Victoria Beckham Site
From a "web-site design and Mail Order Products"
company, this is the place to come if you are seeking a little
visual titillation: Mrs Becks as sex object. Fine by me, though
I was always more of a Geri
Halliwell admirer, myself (just don't expect me to listen
to either of them).
Real
Thing
A strange fansite for Vicky, not updated since 1999, for collectors
of Internet oddities.
Victoria
Beckham
This claims to be the official site, but was totally contentless
when I last looked.
Victoria
Beckham - in All Her Glory
Is that a flattering name? It evokes images of battleships
to me. A good fansite, though, if what you are looking for
is all things Posh.
Victoria's
Palace
Quite an engaging fansite, from Mrs Becks' Spicey days. The
name sounds like a lingerie shop, though.
